Supernatural

I'm going to write about Supernatural and why you should watch it, if you don't already. Supernatural is funny and can be very serious at times, but it's watching the adventures that Sam and Dean have that is the good part. They joke around and have fun even while hunting things that can kill them.

I remember some stuff they said that is hard not to laugh at. There is a female, dead they think. Sam says to Dean 'what do you want to do, poke her with a stick?' And Dean is clearly considering it. 'Dude! You're not gonna poke her with a stick' In this scene, it's clear that Sam is the reasonable one, most of the time. Dean has humor too when they visit a place they went to school as kids, he's undercover as the gym teacher. Sam comes in and Dean says, 'the whistle makes me their God,' which was true as they did whatever he said.

When they first start thinking angels could be true. Sam is saying 'Dean, there's ten times as much lore about angels as there is about anything else we've ever hunted.' Dean, who didn't believe in angels replies with, 'yeah, you know what? There's a ton of lore on unicorns too. In fact, I hear that they ride on silver moonbeams and they shoot rainbows out of their butts!' Sam says with such a serious face, 'wait, there's no such thing as unicorns?' They are amazing at keeping straight faces during parts such as that one.

Impossibly it gets even better when Castiel, an angel, comes into their lives. He doesn't understand muggle inventions and can't feel as well. He gets better at feelings as time goes on and even denies his family for those two. I'd like to share my favorite episode that is the best out of them all. It's called Yellow Fever and what happens is Dean is infected with a disease that makes him scared. They are hunting and Sam tries to give him a gun. 'Oh, I'm not carrying that. It could go off. I'll man the flashlight,' Dean says with a grin on his face. In the building, Sam opens a locker and a rat comes out of it so Dean screams hilariously, it's hard not to laugh and when he finally calms down he says, 'that was scary!' If you don't laugh at that, then you can't feel.

At the end of Yellow Fever, it shows a clip of Dean dancing to Eye of the Tiger. If you don't want to watch Supernatural even after all you've read, then at least watch that, and have a good laugh. I thought I might end this post by putting a few of my favorite quotes from Castiel.
Dean: 'where the hell have you been?' Castiel: 'on a bender,'
Castiel: 'I found a liquor store.' Sam: 'and?' Castiel: 'I drank it,'
Those are great quotes and I hope that you want to watch Supernatural now.
'I'm not going to eat it. I'm gonna wear it as a wormstatch.'

Ladder of Inference

The ladder of inference is a thinking process that goes through our minds, most of the time without realizing it. It could be called stairs of inference because it would work the same way. The bottom rung, or step, is the data we see. We see things every single day, which the next rung, selecting the data, is where we take the stuff we see and focus on a few things.  Next is where you infer stuff about the data you chose. The fourth rung is the assumptions we make about the data we found. The fifth is the conclusions we draw from the assumption. The sixth is us using our beliefs to, which goes back to the selected data because we choose certain data by our beliefs. The last one is the actions we take, so it's the emotions we feel and acting on those emotions.

Character Analysis

Jonas Character Traits

'The worst part of holding the memories is not the pain. It's the loneliness of it. Memories need to be shared.' This quote is a good one to help describe Jonas from The Giver by Lois Lowry. No one has memories, except for those few special people. There is no color and everyone is the same, so there will be no wars. The people able to get memories all have these special eyes that no one else has, something that makes them different. Jonas, in this story, is one of those people, and he gets unsure and curious about himself and memories, but he can get determined to show them to other people.

One of the times Jonas showed he was unsure was when he got the 'Stirrings.' The Stirrings is him growing older and beginning to like girls. He got them first in a dream. In the morning, when the family was all sharing their dreams, he was unsure of if he should speak about it. 'He paused. He knew he had to tell it all, that it was not only all right, but necessary to tell all of the dream'. Perhaps if had not had it drilled into him that he can not lie, then he wouldn't have told them his dream. Another time was when the Chief Elder skipped over his number during the Ceremony of Twelve. 'He hunched his shoulders and tried to make himself smaller in the seat'. He clearly had no clue what was happening and was unsure of what to do.

Jonas is curious and shows it a few times, but sometimes it is considered rude to ask questions in that world and he has been raised never to be rude. When Jonas was first told by the Giver he could ask questions the book states, 'Jonas had questions. A thousand. A million questions.' Another minor one was one he was trying to call back the memory of snow. 'But how can I call it back?' He asked, after a few other questions, showing he is curious and wants to learn. He shows more curiosity with the Giver because it is not rude to ask questions with him, the Giver even encourages him to ask questions. Perhaps, if he'd been raised differently, he would have been more curious about things and asked his questions.

The last of his emotions that stood out was his determination. For example, when he was holding Asher's shoulders, even though it's not allowed to touch one another outside of the family units. 'Trying to transmit the awareness of red to his friend,' that's why he was touching Asher. He later tries to transmit a memory to his family. It shows he's determined to get others to see the wonder in color and memories. Another time, he had Gabe and was making his way towards Elsewhere, that way other people would have memories and be able to make their own decisions. 'He would have lived a life hungry for feelings, for color, for love.' He thought this when he was starving and so was Gabe. He was trying to convince himself that taking Gabe and running away was a good thing, that it would've been worse to stay and have Gabe be killed and have no one else know about color.

Jonas was more determined than he was anything else. He shows curiosity a lot, but doesn't ask questions because sometimes he's unsure if it would be rude or he'll actually get an answer. Sometimes, he doesn't get an exact answer and it sort of frustrates him. I can relate to that because I don't like not knowing stuff if everyone of my friends do, so it frustrates me when they keep secrets for apparently no reason.

Addiction

The health care system should cover all addiction treatments.

I strongly agree with this statement because sometimes people get addicted without meaning to. Like, a friend is pressuring them and they give in saying they'll only do it once, but they get addicted.  Or they're having trouble with stress and having problems at home, so they don't know how to deal, so they get addicted to something, like alcohol and become dependent on it.

Also, sometimes people may not have enough money to get the treatment, but if they want to, they should be able to. No one would be able to force people to get treatment, but for the ones who want the treatment should be able to get it. People have different ways of dealing with things and sometimes people get addicted, but if they don't want to be addicted, then they should be able to get treatment, even if they don't have money.

Character Scene

Elizabeth laughed loudly, her long black hair flowing in the wind and blue eyes sparkling. She was racing her best friend Katrina to school. People moved out of the way, smiling at her. Once at school, they fell on the ground and giggled madly. "Have fun?" A voice asked. They shot up and saw a smiling Alex behind them. Elizabeth blushed and stuttered, before saying yes. Alex helped them up and the other students walking around them looked envious.
They all went to their English class, where they were going to have to say a speech. "Guys, I can't do this," Elizabeth whispered as she walked in. A girl walking in turned to her, "of course you can. You're a natural writer," the girl, Samantha, told her, smiling encouragingly. Elizabeth calmed her nerves as she watched the others do their speeches. When it was her turn, she was doing it on ballet, which was something she had done since she was eight.
She knew her speech and knew the topic, so she flew through it, no signs of nervousness. "Dance for us," Alex called out, jokingly. She shook her head and sat down. "That was good. I told you, you could do it," Samantha whispered to Elizabeth. "Elizabeth, something you need to work on is speaking louder," the teacher told her. The bell rang and Katrina went to her friend. They went outside and laid down on the grass. "I wish I could fly and sit on a cloud," Elizabeth said in one of her weirder moments.

About Me

About Me

Hello, whoever's reading this. My name is Sierra, and I was born in 2001. I live in Ontario. I am a female and have long red hair, which I want to grow to my hips, but it's not quite there yet. I have to wear glasses, and I love jewelry. I always wear a locket, that was a gift from my parents and a daughter's pride ring, which I got for my thirteenth birthday. I love fall, and dislike spring because of all the bees. Summer is nice because no school, but it's so hot and winter is nice, I just don't like wearing this huge coat all the time.

I'm part dutch, and a bunch of other things. Dutch comes from my dad's side of the family and the other stuff comes from my mom's side. I have a brother who looks nothing like any of us, so we joke that we stole him from my Aunt Lori who looks nothing like her family, but looks like Caleb. I have a twin sister, Abigail who prefers Abby. We might be identical twins because we look so similar, but recently, she cut her hair and I didn't. That means no more switching on April Fool's day.  I have a competitive streak, but it really only happens around my sister, and I have to try and beat everything she does.

We often fight because we're always together. We've never been in different classes and usually sit next to each other in class. Something that sucks is that we argue about schoolwork to help each other when the other does something wrong and then the teacher moves us apart. We solve problems our way, and we have gotten better. This is because we have two different teachers, and they both have their own twins. The first one loves our arguments and can imagine her kids doing the same thing. As long as we argue about school, she doesn't care and we solve our problems that way and it's hard any other way.

I have two best friends, Angel and Jewels. They fight almost as much as me and Abby, but they don't make up five minutes later. I am called the mother of the group. Angel is a two year old and Jewels's is a three year old and Abby is whatever age she wants to be. I go in tae-kwon-doe and it's exhausting, but I love it. I'm currently a blue belt which is three belts away from black. There are ten degrees in black belt, and some have died off, so I think our current teacher only knows to fifth degree. I love music and I deliver newspapers. I like watching movies, but I can't sit still for the whole thing so I more often than not, miss the ending and/or the middle.

I am called a nerd. I like to learn new things, and absolutely love to read. I love the classics like Pride and Prejudice and Gone with the Wind and Emma. My first classic was Little Women and I later bought a beautiful book called cloud words in Little Women. It's the exact same except for the cover that has the best quotes all over. It's like a sunset orange and I'm gonna stop with the books now. I don't like the internet as much as others. I don't know how to use it and I'd rather write using pen and paper. I also don't like electronic books because the feel of the pages and the beauty of the cover. I'm the princess of the family, but I can be really rude if you hurt my friends. And only I can tease my sister.

Mindset

Mindset

A fixed mindset is where you think that you can't change your level of intelligence, and think having to work hard to get good grades makes you not smart. A growth mindset is the opposite, you know you can continue to learn and challenges and studying are things to make you smarter. I wonder if people can change from a fixed mindset to a growth mindset. I think I used to have a fixed mindset for a while, because I thought I was bad at stuff and couldn't get better.

I think it's who is teaching us or parenting us also, because if you have a teacher/parent who thinks you can't change your level of intelligence, then you may start to believe the same thing, but if you have one who believes the opposite, then you may believe the opposite. It's better to have a growth mindset obviously, as you would love to learn.
